Gnome-Colors Patcher XP by heebijeebi Gnome-Colors Patcher XP by heebijeebi
NOTE: This is for Windows XP 32-Bit only!

Furthermore the XP-Patcher has reached its final version. Windows 7 is out long enough and has fully replaced Windows XP in my view. This means there will be no more changes, additions or updates anymore!

The Gnome-Colors Patcher, which is based on vertigosity's Super Turbo Tango Patcher, is a mostly self-explanatory graphical wizard designed to make simple the process of modifying your system files with resources developed by the Gnome-Colors Project, which is mostly inspired/based on Tango, GNOME, Elementary, Tango-Generator and many other open-source projects. It currently includes implementations of the basic Gnome icon set and the Gnome-Colors icon sets, rounded out with various pieces of artwork created by myself and others. Additionally, it includes a Reloader module to re-modify your files if they are overwritten, allowing system updates to be performed without breaking the theme.

Are there any guidelines (like Tango's) for making gnome-colors icons?

I don't know of such guidelines. But the gnome-colors icons are based on tango so they would be very similar.

Hello heebijeebi,

User Account Pictures still ugly unpatced.

(C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\Default Pictures)

It would be nice replace these bmps appropriate in Gnome/Tango style. Can be an option in your installer.

Thanks.

okay it was not on on my todo list because these are no icons..just userpictures. well if you have nice pictures in tango style send it to me and I'll include them next release.

oh damn, I didn't see that your request was for the XP Patcher... because I don't work on this patcher anymore.

are your userpics compatible to Win7?

well you can send me your work (upload it somewhere and send me the link) and I can put it into the description for manual replace. if they are compatible with Win7 I'll also include them in the Win7 Patcher.

they are here [link]
they are 48x48x24. I'm not sure which ones should be for Win7. Can you update XP Patcher (last time)? You promised update it in case of major change... This is such case. Just check the pictures, if they are in Tango spirit I would prepare set for Win7.

Thanks.

hi! I looked at your files but I won't include them because they aren't really tango style. they just look like cliparts from office ...

So there's no chance this is ever coming out for XP64 then?

I use XP x64 with Backtrack in a VMWare (in Unity mode) so I basically have the closest thing to a hybrid Win/Lin box I can get without a hypervisor. I'm using a windows shiki-colors theme and XP cursors within the VM but I cannot find a working link for the XP icons for GNOME (damn MU takedown...) and I would actually rather use the icons from THIS anyway. Still, I would really, REALLY like to avoid upgrading back to Win7, yanno, like the plague...

No chance at all?

(Also, AWESOME work. I had this on an XP 32-bit VM earlier before I downgraded the host back to XP and it really is flawless.)

I didn't use Home Edition back then but it should work for you. 99% sure ;)

But if you have doubts try it in a virtual machine first or make a backup before applying it on your real system.

I started collecting the elementary icons for the Win7 patcher. but sadly this icon theme isn't nearly as complete as the tango/gnome themes. so a lot of icons are missing in elementary style..

I don't know. I try to stick to the closest "relatives" of the tango-theme. otherwise it would take a lot more work to maintain the patcher than I can afford these days (university, girlfriend etc ;) )

When I already have a system patched with the super tango patcher, are there more modifications than more color styles with this?

Is there something "better" except more color sets?

well besides new icon themes, there is a visual style included in the shiki colors style + wallpapers ([link]), ubuntu cursor theme. this patcher also patched a lot more system files and is therefor (in my opinion) more complete it its transformation.

amazing! however it will be nice to release separated packs for the different icon sets and with option to integrate in Windows CD [link]

sorry but as explained in the readme I won't be working on integrating this into a Windows CD. just install it after installing your system. this way you have the advantage of the reloader.

the other thing is that the support for XP by me is on a minimum level as explained in the description here. this means no more big updates. I have moved on to Win7 and XP is history...

After install, I can't log in, I can saw boot, but can't saw logon UI, the compter was restart.

After GHOST, I uncheck "File Modifications". Then, I can saw logon UI, but after enter the Password, I can't see the desktop, the computer was restart.

GHOST again, I uncheck "File Modifications" and "Shiki-Colors", then I can saw desktop, but no new icons.

Now, no GHOST, I checked "System Files", my PC is nice, I have new Bootscreen, new logon UI, new icons.

I just want to help you to get this patcher better. Sorry for my bad English.

do you mean Norton Ghost the Backup Software by GHOST?

so if you are using Ghost patching doesn't work but with GHOST turned off it works?

No.

My OS: Windows XP SP2 Professional(This is a Small XP, Not Original. Make by www.deepin.org, Version is 5.10)

About GHOST: GHOST (General Hardware Oriented Software Transfer), A backup tool. Because after installed "Gnome-Colors Patcher XP", i can't see my desktop (OS is auto restart), So, I use a "*.GHO" file to restore.

Now, it can work, because some thing uncheck.

(I can use "Tango_Patcher_2600_8_06_by_vertigosity.rar" with no issue.)

I can't say anything about your windows version. I can't find any usefull information on deepin (most stuff is in chinese which I can't read). the only thing I was able to find out was that its a somehow LITEed version. but what was removed/added/changed etc? it also seems to be an illegal version of windows - if this is the case my support ends here!!

the other thing is that the patcher is designed for the latest versions of windows. for XP its SP3 and you are running SP2! I don't know if this could be a source for the problem. well it shouldn't but who knows?! :)

I am updated to SP3, but have the same problem.
Sounds you have no idea,
but I can use "Tango Patcher 2600" with no problem.
If I can help you, you can tell me what I to do.
Thanks, You are a good man.

Hi Heebijeebi,
Can you tell about the use of these files"MoveEx.exe","wfpdisable.exe","xvi32.exe","XVI32U.GID","XVI32U.HLP",xvikrnlpalettemod.xsc"?

Why do not you crack "UXTheme.dll" in the code?
Reply
:iconheebijeebi:
heebijeebi Featured By Owner Dec 12, 2010
moveex.exe: replaces files that are currently in use at the next reboot
wfpdisable.exe: disables the windows file protection
xvi32-files: these are used to patch the kernel (ntoskrnl etc), to apply the bootscreen.

for uxtheme.dll I found a little tool with a silent switch so there was no need to code it myself.
