WinTango Patcher by heebijeebi WinTango Patcher by heebijeebi
NOTE: This is for Windows 7/8 (x86/x64)! It has been successfully tested by myself in a VirtualBox and on my own Computer(s).
If you find any bugs or problems please report them to me.

The WinTango Patcher is a mostly self-explanatory graphical wizard designed to make simple the process of modifying your system files with resources developed by the Gnome-Colors Project, which is mostly inspired/based on Tango, GNOME, Elementary, Tango-Generator and many other open-source projects. It currently includes implementations of the basic Gnome icon set and the Gnome-Colors icon sets, rounded out with various pieces of artwork created by myself and others. Additionally, it includes a Reloader module to re-modify your files if they are overwritten, allowing system updates to be performed without breaking the theme.

Changelog:

15.02.06:
- New: BETA Support for Windows 10
- New: Support for: Crystal Disk Info
- New: Crystal Disk Info Shiki-Colors Theme
- Update: Gnome-Icon Theme 3.15; Cheser-Icon Theme 3.14
- Update: CCleaner 5.x, Firefox & Thunderbird Themes, SMPlayer Themes
- New: Elementary Icon Theme
- New: Humanity Icon Theme (BETA)
- Updated: Renamed the Project to “WinTango Patcher”. Because of the inclusion of Elementary & Humanity and due to the icon style focus being on Tango-Styled-Icons this name fits better.

Tools:
You might want to use Windows 7 Aero Blur Tweaker by Kishan-Bagaria in order to fix the border transparency for the included Shiki-Colors Visual Style!

Hi Heebijeebi,
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware detected Trojan.Agent.AIS in some WinTango Patcher's own files.
Please look:

Registry Keys: 1
Trojan.Agent.AIS, HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\UNINSTALL\WinTango Patcher

Files: 2
Trojan.Agent.AIS, C:\Program Files (x86)\WinTango Patcher\Patcher.exe
Trojan.Agent.AIS, C:\Program Files (x86)\WinTango Patcher\PatcherCPL.exe

I think they are false positives, don't you? Please, let me know.

yes its a false positive.

its because the patcher disables some redirections and allows itself to change protected files, which is neccessary to do the trick.

Nice, looking good :) Any chance you will bring back the classc list view? I mean the one that reduces the spaces between items? It was really great!

Somehow I missed out on the beta version.. cool with elementary icons too.. you're doing a great job, man.. even Win10 support coming/improving! Have you seen Microsofts Win10 icons they've presented? I've never been a fan of Wndows icons but good god, your patcher will seriously be nessesary when/if i make the switch to Win10!

Does it work with Windows 8.1 ?, cause it doesn`t seems to patch the tray icons, mine stays white.

it works. but the tray icons can't be patched for Win 8.1. if you do so the functions behind them wouldn't work properly anymore.

Oh and nother thing, heebi, wasn't there once a way to patch only applications? They tend to get updated so a faster way to update would be nice. I fear the reloader will reload items I dont want reloaded :/.. alot of system files I've modded further myself, etc.

in the past there were two seperate patchers, yes. I merged them to make things easier.

I'll have a look at implementing an option (via commandline switch) to just reload windows or the applications. Please be a bit more patient as I am currently reworking the whole thing ;)

Hey Heebijeebi, any chance you could make a different battery icon (in the tray)? Like more visible, something in style with the default win7 icon but ofcourse not just boring plain white.. that is, if there's even any alternative icons made ofcourse

Yeah I had a look at those as well. Something like that, but vertical and more tango-ish colors? It's just that the existing one is very small and its hard to tell how much the battery is actually drained.

How I uninstall for complete this to do a clean install again?

simply go to the control panel and deinstall it through "programs and features".

if the patcher shouldn't appear you can also press Win + R and copy the following:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Gnome-Colors Patcher\Patcher.exe /uninstall

Press enter..

So are these available anywhere as just separate icons?
I understand the point of this is to basically replace all the icons on the system but that's not the sole use of the icons.
These are neat icons but unfortunately they are completely useless to me in this form.
I only need 1 type of icon out of the entire collection right now and getting that separately appears to not be possible.

you can get all the icons from their projects homepage:

ftp.acc.umu.se/pub/GNOME/sourc…
ftp.acc.umu.se/pub/GNOME/sourc…
gnome-look.org/content/show.ph…
tango.freedesktop.org/

you can also tell me which icon you need and i can provide you with it..

I don't suppose it's this patcher that's somehow creating this behavior on my laptop;

No matte what I do, inside advanced appaerance settings for my Windows theme, border padding with automatically set itself to 0 instead of 4 and "active window border" to 5 instead of 1, making windows look like so: i.imgur.com/t06E38r.png

In the installation of the icon pack I didn't install the theme and all that, so I really dont know... it just seems like the behavior stops when I've the pack uninstalled... and yes, no matter if I change it it will reset itself eventually... ?! :(

Yessir. I don't see how this patcher actually could do it - and it's not a problem on my desktop either (long time user, great job btw) - but it seems liked it stopped when I didnt have the patch installed. It should be looking like so : i.imgur.com/NzAPwv2.png

I've just tried patching without using the Tango iPack and I can't really see anything that's not patched. I'm trying to think of a good reason I used both but I can't. Good work!

Follow up:

The first time I tried gnome-patcher on Windows 10, I had done an upgrade from 8.1 and I just reloaded gnome-patcher. All good!

But now, I've tried on a fresh Windows 10 install and I get the error blue screen during startup. The system won't start anymore...  : (

Okay thats a bummer... but Windows 10 hasn't even been released (until autumn 2015).
That in mind using the Patcher is likely to cause errors and it should never be used on a productive system!

Right now there is no official support for Windows 10! But you can try applying it by playing around with the checkboxes...

I'm not using Windows 10 as my daily driver, but I'd love to keep testing it with Gnome icons. = )
For me, that's how Windows is supposed to look (or this is how Windows IS in my head).

But I'll just stop fiddling with the icons in W10 for now.
My 8.1 installation is all good and that's what matters.

By the way, thank you very much for this patcher!!

Best,

Hi, I love this, can't use Windows without it - thank you for all your efforts heebijeebi ! :)

I've found on several Windows 8 x64 and 8.1 x64 computers after installing, you can't open these Control Panel apps:
 - Sound
 - Phone and Modem
 - Region
 - Mouse and Keyboard
 - Date and Time

Everything else works flawlessly for me, however I thought I would just report the problem. Let me know if I can do any testing.

Windows 8 is a pain in the *** when it comes to patching. Does anybody know a project that successfully patches (not overlay) windows 8?
